Nepal Sets 104-Run Target Against Malaysia in ACC Premier Cup

A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: A clinical bowling performance spearheaded by Karan KC saw Nepal dismantle host nation Malaysia for a paltry 103 runs in their ACC Premier Cup encounter on Thursday.

Deploying a relentless attack at the UKM-YSD Oval in Bangi, the Nepali bowlers needed just 32.3 overs to tear through the Malaysian batting lineup after the home side chose to bat first upon winning the toss.

Karan KC proved to be the standout performer, carving up the opposition’s core with a lethal spell of 4 for 23 across 7.3 overs, which included two maiden overs.

The rest of the attack offered no respite: spinner Lalit Rajbanshi picked up two wickets, while captain Sandeep Lamichhane, Hemant Dhami, and Dipendra Singh Airee claimed one victim each to complete the rout.

Aside from a 30-run effort by Malaysian skipper Syed Aziz and a resilient 24 from Aqeel Wahid, no other batter managed to reach double figures against Nepal’s disciplined unit.

Nepal now requires a modest target of 104 runs to seal the victory as they prepare to begin their run chase.
