A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom (NT) has announced that it will continue providing free voice, data and SMS services to customers in and around the flood-affected areas of Bhote Koshi until further notice.

The state-owned telecom operator had previously provided free voice calls, 2 GB of daily data and 50 daily SMS messages through August 30.

According to NT spokesperson Kamal Lamichhane, the company decided to extend the facility to facilitate ongoing relief distribution and rescue operations in the region.

Nepal Telecom has urged residents in the affected areas to utilize these free services as needed during the crisis.

Despite flood-induced damage to several of its physical infrastructure sites, the company has deployed technical teams to maintain continuous telecom services and expedite repair work.

Nepal Telecom confirmed that most damaged infrastructure in the affected areas has been restored, with efforts underway to bring remaining sites back online as quickly as possible.
