KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom has announced two days of free voice call services for customers in flood-affected areas and surrounding regions.
According to the state-owned telecom operator, customers in the affected areas will receive free voice calls for two days, along with 2 GB of data and 50 SMS messages per day.
Nepal Telecom is also sending SMS alerts to residents in flood-affected areas, urging them to remain cautious. The company said it has activated an awareness-focused ringback tone to provide customers with important information and safety messages.
The floods have damaged seven telecom towers-two in Rasuwa and five in Nuwakot-according to a preliminary assessment by Nepal Telecom. The fiber link between Galchhi and the Rasuwa border has also been damaged.
Nepal Telecom said its technical teams have been continuously deployed to repair damaged infrastructure and restore communication services in the affected areas as quickly as possible.
