Nepal, UAE set for ACC Premier Cup final showdown today

A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today in the final of the third edition of the ACC Premier Cup One-Day Cricket Tournament.

The championship match is scheduled to begin at 7:15 am at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Both sides are targeting their second ACC Premier Cup championship. Nepal secured the inaugural title in 2023, defeating the UAE by seven wickets, while the UAE lifted the trophy in 2024 after beating hosts Oman.

The final has greater importance this year as the victorious team will earn qualification for the Asia Cup.

Nepal has recorded four wins and one defeat in five matches so far, covering the group stage and semi-final. The UAE, in contrast, has maintained a perfect record and enters the final unbeaten.

The two teams have met 19 times in One-Day International cricket, with Nepal holding an 11-8 advantage. Nepal has also won three of their previous five meetings.

Their most recent encounters came in the ICC World Cup League 2 in May, when Nepal secured victories in both matches.
