KATHMANDU: Representatives, party leaders, activists and supporters are gathering at Khulamanj in Tundikhel for the inauguration of the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 2 pm, with delegates currently moving toward the venue from various areas across Kathmandu, including Gaushala, Koteshwor, Lazimpat, Thamel, Balaju, New Bus Park, Sundhara and Kalanki.
The party expects more than 7,500 delegates to attend the convention. Organizers have designated several locations for private vehicle parking, including the Dharahara underground parking facility, Old Bus Park, Bhrikutimandap, the National Assembly Hall, Pragya Pratishthan and the Annapurna Hotel premises on Durbar Marg.
Additionally, one lane of the road from Maitighar to Bhadrakali has been allocated for large buses transporting delegates from outside the valley.
The convention is being held under the slogan ‘Respect for tradition and determination for change: A strong Congress alternative for a prosperous Nepal’. Following the inauguration, a closed session is scheduled for October 5 and 6, with the election process to select new leadership taking place on October 7 and 8.
