KATHMANDU: The rival faction of the Nepali Congress has appointed central representatives to all 77 districts to oversee the party’s upcoming general convention and lower-level conventions.

The appointments were confirmed in a statement issued by Deepak Prasad Kuinkel, coordinator of the secretariat coordination committee.

Under the new assignments, Surya Kumar Dahal has been appointed for Panchthar, Mahindra Kumari Limbu for Jhapa, Bhim Parajuli for Morang, and Kalyani Rijal for Kathmandu.

The faction has urged all party members to extend their cooperation to ensure the success of the general convention. Furthermore, the statement appeals to active members and supporters to participate in the process.

The convention preparation committee, which met on Sept. 2 and 3, previously decided to begin ward-level conventions on Oct. 1.

To ensure the process is organized, the party has mandated that preparation committees for districts, federal constituencies, provincial constituencies, local levels, and wards must be formed by Oct. 3.
