KATHMANDU: The Nepali Muslim community in Qatar has donated over Rs 4.1 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support those affected by recent floods and landslides.
The International Nepali Muslim Society, Qatar, stated that a total of Rs 4,107,721 was collected under the ‘Nepal Flood Victims Relief Campaign’.
The funds were raised through the collaborative efforts of various Nepali Muslim organizations to assist citizens affected by floods and landslides in the areas surrounding Rasuwagadhi, specifically along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river corridors.
Several organizations participated in the campaign, including the Nepali Muslim Shanti Samaj, Fakhr-e-Millat Foundation, Nepal Islamic Group, Nepali Muslim Foundation Dhanusha, Ramaul Muslim Sewa Samaj, Mahottari Muslim Committee Sangh, Nepali Muslim Council, Mansuri Ekta Manch, and Nepal Muslim Ekta Samaj.
Azmat Ali, president of the society, announced plans to continue the relief efforts and proposed long-term social projects involving Nepali Muslim organizations based in Qatar. He outlined a plan to establish a community fund of at least Rs 10 million to launch a ‘Chain Command Project’.
This initiative aims to build a sustainable economic system through agriculture, processing, production, and marketing, with the ultimate goal of supporting the education and health of underprivileged students.
