NEPSE falls 13.95 points as turnover drops to Rs 5.18 Billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s stock market ended its six-session winning streak on Wednesday, with the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index falling 13.95 points, or 0.51 percent, to close at 2,712.54.

The market remained under pressure throughout the trading session. The benchmark touched an intraday high of 2,720.62 before slipping to a low of 2,694.57 around mid-session.

Market breadth remained weak, with share prices of 193 companies declining, 77 advancing, and seven remaining unchanged.

Investor activity also slowed, as daily turnover dropped to Rs 5.18 billion, down from Rs 6.67 billion in the previous session.

Most sectoral indices closed lower, led by the trade sector, which fell 2.60 percent. However, the finance sector gained 0.49 percent, while the manufacturing and processing index edged up 0.45 percent.

Ridi Power Company Limited recorded the day’s highest turnover, with shares worth Rs 423.08 million changing hands. NCC Debenture 2086 was the biggest loser, dropping 7.16 percent, while Everest Colour Limited emerged as the top gainer, soaring 14.99 percent.
