NEPSE falls 19 points to close at 2,599.58

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell 19.13 points to close at 2,599.58 on Monday, the first trading day of the week, as selling pressure spread across the market.

Total turnover stood at Rs 3.23 billion, down from Rs 4.16 billion on Friday. Of the 278 companies traded, share prices of 229 companies declined, while 47 advanced and two remained unchanged.

All sub-indices ended the session in negative territory. The Hydropower sector recorded the steepest decline, falling 1.19 percent, followed by Non-Life Insurance at 1.12 percent. Banking dropped 0.67 percent, while Life Insurance declined 0.81 percent, Finance 0.80 percent, Others 0.78 percent, Microfinance 0.53 percent and Trading 0.50 percent.

Panchakanya Mai Hydropower suffered the largest loss among individual companies, falling 9.83 percent. Win Nepal Laghubitta declined 8.67 percent, while Mount Everest Power dropped 7.76 percent.

Sarbottam Paints was the top gainer, rising 15 percent. Dhaulagiri Laghubitta gained 11.98 percent, CYC Laghubitta 9.14 percent and Sayapatri Hydropower 6.27 percent.

Reliance Spinning Mills, Solu Hydropower, Sahas Urja, Ridi Power, Excel Development Bank and Sanima Middle Tamor were among the most actively traded stocks during the session.
