KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by 8.81 points (0.33%) on Thursday to close at 2,651.21 points, marking a continued slight upward trend following modest gains earlier in the week.
The Sensitive Index also rose by 0.97 points (0.21%) to reach 464.59 points, while both the Float and Sensitive Float indices registered minor gains.
Market activity picked up during the session, with total daily turnover reaching Rs 3.72 billion compared to Rs 3.53 billion on Wednesday.
Over 10.2 million shares were traded across 347 companies through 45,822 transactions.
A total of 171 companies saw their stock prices rise, 86 recorded declines, and 19 remained unchanged.
Sectoral performance was mostly positive, with 10 out of 13 sub-indices closing in the green.
Development banks, commercial banks, hydropower, and manufacturing led the gains, while the investment and mutual fund sectors experienced minor drops. The trading index remained flat.
Among individual stocks, Sarbottam Cement Limited hit the positive circuit limit with a 15% price increase.
Prabhu Bank Debentures saw the highest loss, dropping 10.45%. Ghalemdi Hydro Limited topped the market in both turnover and trading volume, recording transactions worth Rs 299.8 million for 1.18 million shares, closing at Rs 256 per share.
