KATHMANDU: Regular share trading at the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) will resume from today after the technical issue seen in the data centre of its 72 trading members has been resolved.
Nepse Information Officer Murahari Parajuli said that after receiving information that the technical issue in Data Hub Pvt. Ltd., which serves as the data centre for trading members, has been resolved, trading on NEPSE will resume as usual starting today, September 22.
Nepse had suspended regular trading on September 21 after a technical problem occurred in the data centre. Trading was stopped because continuing operations without resolving the problem could have risked damaging Nepse’s trading system.
The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) had also instructed Nepse to study and investigate the matter leading to halt in its trading.
The Board has directed Nepse to present a report with necessary corrective measures to prevent such incidents in the future and has also dispatched a five-member inspection team led by the Deputy Executive Director.
Even though trading will resume from today as the technical issue at the data centre has been resolved, the technical cause of the incident and the systemic risk have still not been identified.
