LALITPUR: Purna Lakshmi Neupane has emerged as the winner of the BP Memorial ‘Green Run, Women Re-Run’ competition organized by the Nepali Congress Central Policy, Research and Training Institute.
Neupane came first completing the five-kilometer race in 17 minutes and 42.8 seconds. Similarly, Nisha Maskoti came second with a timing of 17 minutes and 46.2 seconds, and Nirmala KC came third in 18 minutes and 9.1 seconds.
Nepali Congress Vice President Pushpa Bhusal handed over the cash prize to the winners.
The first, second and the third received a cash prize of Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000, and Rs 20,000 respectively.
The race, which started from Patan Durbar Square, Mangal Bazaar, passed through Pulchowk, Jhamsikhel, Bhanimandal, Ekantakuna, Jawlakhel, Pulchowk and ended at Patan Durbar Square.
The women participating in the race also held a silent demonstration carrying placards reading ‘Justice for Garima Chaudhary’, demanding justice for the three-year-old girl who was raped and murdered in Jitpursimara Municipality of Bara earlier this week.
