KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has said the New Year is an occasion for us to set a common national goal and resolution for its achievement.

Giving a message of best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of New Year, 2083BS today, President Paudel wished peace, prosperity, health and happiness. He reminded the need of a cultured behaviour to achieve the set goals.

The existing calendars are parts of our history and civilization, he said, adding that they remind us of glorious past and inspire for prosperous future. “The New Year is auspicious occasion for Nepalis to review the past and make resolution for future progress,” the Head of State added.

The President also stated in the best wishes message that Nepal recently held the House of Representatives (HoR) election successfully, thereby giving an exit to adverse situation the country was facing.

“Through the HoR election, people have given a mandate to their representatives for rule of law, sustainable peace, good governance and social justice that reinforce federal democratic republic,” President Paudel mentioned, arguing that it is a reflection of people’s aspiration for development and prosperity.

He also stressed urgency of making resolution to achieve national goals. The resolution must be for adhering to the ideals of federal democratic republic through words, action and intent. Keeping in centre the citizen, committing to good governance, inclusion and social justice are vital and keeping intact the country’s independence and sovereignty is equally essential.

Paudel wished the New Year 2083BS inspired everyone to work in unison to foster harmony, tolerance, trust and cooperation so that the goal of federal democratic republic could be realized.
