KATHMANDU: The winner of the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will receive a record Rs 150 million, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced, making it the biggest prize ever offered in a domestic sports competition in the country.
A total of Rs 300 million has been allocated for the top four teams, according to CAN Treasurer Padam Bahadur Khadka. The runner-up will receive Rs 80 million, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will get Rs 40 million and Rs 30 million, respectively.
In previous editions, the total prize money was Rs 20.1 million, with the champion receiving Rs 11 million.
CAN said the increased prize money aims to recognise players’ efforts, raise the tournament’s standard and strengthen the professionalism of Nepali cricket. Individual awards will also include cash and prizes such as cars and motorcycles.
