KATHMANDU: The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has published the results of its Special Examination for postgraduate (PG) medical graduates, with 93.57% of candidates passing the licensing test.

The pass rate is around 2 percentage points higher than the corresponding examination held last year, when just over 91% of candidates were successful.

According to Dr. Nina Rai, an NMC member and coordinator of the Examination Committee, 1,013 candidates registered for the examination. One candidate was absent, leaving 1,012 examinees, of whom 947 passed.

Candidates from 36 medical specialties took part in the computer-based examination, which was conducted at the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus.

Dr. Rai attributed the improved results to the large number of recent graduates from Nepali medical universities.

“Results in this examination cycle are generally better. This year, the pass rate increased by two percentage points compared to last year. More than 90% of the candidates were recent graduates from Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University, which contributed to the higher success rate,” she said.
