KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has invited the public to submit complaints or information, along with supporting evidence, regarding individuals recommended by the Government of Nepal for ambassadorial positions in 13 countries.
Issuing a notice today, the committee stated that anyone who believes a proposed ambassador is unsuitable for appointment may lodge a formal complaint backed by clear grounds and proof.
According to the committee, complaints can be submitted to the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament or the respective District Administration Office within 10 days from the date of the first publication of the notice.
Complainants are requested to clearly specify the proposed ambassador’s name, address, position, and the explicit grounds for their objection, after which parliamentary hearings will be conducted following necessary processing.
A meeting of the committee on September 24 decided to initiate the hearing process.
Following a Cabinet decision on September 18, Nischal Nath Pandey has been recommended for India, Kalyan Raj Sharma for China, Chiran Jung Thapa for the United States, Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana for the United Kingdom, and Saru Joshi for Germany.
Furthermore, Suresh Kumar Karna has been recommended for Israel, Prapti Sherchan for Spain, Jigyan Kumar Thapa for Japan, Padmakshi Rana for Oman, Chudamani Kharel for Malaysia, Sangam Shrestha for South Korea, Manchala Kumari Jha for Sri Lanka and Giri Bahadur Sunar for Saudi Arabia.
The committee stated that the formal appointment process will proceed following the parliamentary hearings.
