KATHMANDU: The parliamentary hearing for Chudamani Kharel, the proposed ambassador to Malaysia, has been postponed following allegations of financial irregularities, conflict of interest and misconduct.

During the hearing, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Rajib Khatri presented various allegations against Kharel. Khatri stated that he had received complaints and documents regarding financial transactions, ties with manpower agencies, outstanding arrears and irregularities in land deals.

Khatri claimed that Kharel had collected large sums of money from locals in Jhapa under the pretext of securing grants, and only began returning the funds after his nomination as ambassador.

Furthermore, Khatri alleged that Kharel had blocked individuals on social media and blacklisted those who had paid him mone

He also presented evidence suggesting that Kharel had accepted money from manpower agencies in exchange for future favors and had been using a vehicle provided by a manpower company. The lawmaker provided specific details regarding the vehicle’s registration number to support his claim.

Additional accusations include the mismanagement of funds while working at various organizations and involvement in suspicious land transactions in Pokhara and the Terai-Madhesh region.
