BAGLUNG: Phalewas municipality in Parbat has decided to contribute Rs 3.7 million for the rescue and relief of flood victims in Bhotekoshi. The decision was made during the municipality’s executive meeting, according to chief administrative officer Bhola Prasad Chapagain.
The funds will be deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. The contribution will be collected by deducting two to seven days of salary from all municipal staff, teachers, and health workers. Mayor Ganga Prasad Tiwari has announced that he will donate his entire month’s salary to the relief effort, while deputy mayor Shobha Kumari Chhetri has contributed Rs 10,000.
Executive committee members will contribute Rs 5,000 each, and ward members will contribute Rs 2,000 each. For municipal staff, the deduction will range from two days of salary for non-gazetted employees to seven days for sixth, seventh, and eighth-level officials. School staff, facilitators, and teachers will also have between two and seven days of their salary deducted, depending on their rank and level. These deductions will be made from the August payroll.
The meeting also decided to provide Rs 50,000 as funeral expenses to the families of permanent residents of the municipality who died in the disaster, alongside medical expenses for the injured.
