KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah is scheduled to brief the House of Representatives today on the catastrophic flooding caused by the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers.
Triggered by a massive ice rock collapse, the disaster has severely impacted multiple riverbank settlements across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan, Gorkha, and Tanahun.
Official casualty reports confirm 1,114 deaths and 3,916 missing persons, with nearly 12,000 individuals rescued to date.
Following the Prime Minister’s address, party leaders will deliberate on response strategies, after which Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal will present a special resolution regarding disaster management and relief measures.
