KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) has submitted a medical report to the Federal Parliament Secretariat stating that he needs to wear sunglasses while attending parliamentary meetings due to a health condition.
Parliament Secretariat Joint Secretary and spokesperson Ekram Giri confirmed that the Secretariat had received a letter accompanied by the Prime Minister’s medical report.
“A letter along with a medical report stating that the Prime Minister needs to wear sunglasses has been received by the Parliament Secretariat,” Giri told Nepal Khabar on Tuesday morning.
The submission comes after Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal said during an earlier meeting of the Business Advisory Committee that lawmakers would not be permitted to wear sunglasses inside the House following repeated concerns over the practice.
Following the Speaker’s remarks, Prime Minister Shah provided the medical report to the Secretariat, citing his health condition as the reason he needs to wear sunglasses during parliamentary meetings.
