KATHMANDU: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has requested not to collect money in the name of flood victims without authorization and warned that strict action will be taken subject to punishment.

Complaints have been received noting individuals, groups, and organizations are forcefully collecting money from various areas in the name of financial support for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of citizens affected by the Bhotekoshi flash flood.

Taking this into consideration, the OPMCM urged the concerned parties not to do so.

It is reported that some individuals, groups, and organizations are collecting money by publicly sharing unauthorized ‘QR codes’ and personal account numbers, which has drawn serious attention of the Prime Minister’s office.

‘We sincerely request you to provide financial support only to officially announced accounts and QR codes to ensure transparent use, proper management, and protection from potential financial fraud in this difficult situation,’ reads a statement issued by spokesperson at the OPMCM Hemraj Aryal.

For financial support, the government has officially requested to deposit money only into the accounts of the currently operational two main funds.

Under the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund, contributions can be made to the following accounts: Himalayan Bank Limited (Dollar account) 01905631210046, Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited 01013243801, 02013243801, Rastriya Banijya Bank 1130100003762001, 113010000000606, Everest Bank Limited 00100105200270, 00101102200012, Nepal Bank Limited 00211600510039000003, 00200100510039000001, Global IME Bank Limited 00401010000057, 00411010000005, Nabil Bank Limited 1710017505285, and Agricultural Development Bank Limited 0100201002907014. In addition, the Prime Minister Relief Fund has accounts at Rastriya Banijya Bank with account numbers 1430100000025006 and 1430100001164001.
