KATHMANDU: Financial contributions to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund continue to surge, with total deposits standing at Rs 13.54 billion as of 9:00 AM today, according to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
The relief fund received an additional Rs 282 million after 5:00 PM on September 11 alone.
These combined funds are currently held across nine designated commercial bank accounts operating under the relief initiative.
The government has previously disbursed Rs 1 billion from the fund to assist flood victims through the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
Meanwhile, contributions to the fund’s foreign currency reserves are also rising steady.
An additional USD 154,770 was deposited into the two designated US dollar accounts after 5:00 PM on September 11, bringing the total foreign currency balance in the relief fund to USD 23.43 million according to official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
