KATHMANDU: Addressing the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Prime Minister Balendra Shah outlined the government’s response to recent flood disasters, reporting that the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund has accumulated Rs 7.008 billion.
To accelerate relief efforts, the government released Rs 1 billion to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, which has directly disbursed NPR 67.5 million across 15 hard-hit local municipalities.
Referring to the devastating floods in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading, Prime Minister Shah called the crisis a shared national tragedy affecting all of Nepal.
Meanwhile, specialized rescue teams from India, China, and South Korea have been deployed to locate workers missing inside hydropower tunnels following severe flooding along the Bhotekoshi River, which damaged 11 hydro projects and caused extensive financial losses.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he pledged to mobilize all available national resources to protect lives and rebuild affected communities.
