JANAKPUR: Protesters in Janakpur burned photographs of Prime Minister’s Political Advisor Asim Shah on Monday, expressing anger over the deadly incident in Sunsari’s Dewanganj.

The demonstration took place at Ramananda Chowk, where protesters torched the photographs and chanted slogans against Shah, blaming the government for its handling of the violence in Sunsari.

The protest comes a day after a communal clash in Dewanganj, Sunsari, left one person dead and more than two dozen others injured, triggering widespread outrage and demonstrations in several parts of the country.

Authorities have not commented on the Janakpur protest. Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has formed a high-level probe committee to investigate the Sunsari incident and has reshuffled key administrative and security officials in the district following the violence.
