BIRGUNJ: Parsa police arrested Police Inspector Pradip Paudel and Sakhuwa Prasouni Rural Municipality Chair Jaswant Yadav from a casino in Birgunj on Saturday night. The two were apprehended along with six others at the Golden Finger Gaming Zone in Birgunj Metropolitan City-14 at approximately 10:30 p.m. while allegedly gambling.
Inspector Paudel, a native of Harinas Rural Municipality-7 in Syangja, was previously honored by the Madhesh Province Police Office in Janakpur for his role in ensuring the peaceful and orderly conduct of the parliamentary elections held on March 6, 2026.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raju Karki of the District Police Office, Parsa, confirmed that all eight individuals are currently in custody. “We are conducting further investigations,” Karki said.
The other individuals arrested include 30-year-old Chandan Sahani from Sakhuwa Prasouni-6 and 39-year-old Omprakash Baitha from Birgunj-11. Police also detained four employees of the gaming facility: Vijay Kumar Patel, 28, of Birgunj-14; Dinesh Kumar Patel, 31, of Birgunj-25; Jaydev Sah, 49, of Pipra Rural Municipality-5 in Mahottari; and Pradeshi Sah, 50, of Birgunj-12.
