BIRATNAGAR: Nepal Police have recovered four abandoned muzzle-loading guns and explosive materials from community forests in two districts of eastern Nepal.
According to police, a team from the temporary police post at Sabhakhola in Sankhuwasabha recovered three muzzle-loading guns from a cave in the Malate Community Forest of Chainpur Municipality-11 on August 1, acting on a tip-off.

The weapons had been wrapped in plastic and hidden inside the cave. Police also found a matchbox and 50 grams of match powder along with the guns. In a separate operation, police recovered another muzzle-loading gun from the Janajyoti Community Forest in Katle, Urlabari Municipality-1 of Morang.

A patrol team from the Area Police Office, Urlabari, found the gun hidden inside a sack. Thirteen metal kits used with the weapon and 45.88 grams of gunpowder were also seized. Police said investigations are underway to determine who had hidden the weapons and explosives and for what purpose they were being kept.
