SARLAHI: Police in Sarlahi have seized 330 kilograms of marijuana and arrested one person in connection with the case during a raid in Balara Municipality.
The arrested suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Amarjit Raut of Dumariya, Balara Municipality-7.
According to the District Police Office, Sarlahi, a joint police team from Madhubani Gaun Police Post and the Area Police Office, Gadhiya, was deployed after receiving a tip-off at around 1:15 p.m. on Saturday that marijuana was being unloaded from a pickup truck at a poultry farm owned by Bhola Singh in Dumariya.
The police team, led by Police Inspector Kailash Chaudhary, searched the poultry farm and recovered 330 kg of marijuana concealed in 19 packages. Officers also found around 1.3 tonnes of ginger stored in 26 sacks at the site.
Police seized the pickup truck (registration number Ba. Pra. 01-026 Cha 2886) allegedly used in the operation.
The recovered marijuana, the vehicle and the arrested suspect have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway under the Narcotic Drugs Control Act, police said.
