Police seize 55 illegal muzzle-loading guns from forests in Dang

DANG: Police have seized 55 illegal muzzle-loading guns hidden in forests at various locations in Dang district during a special operation conducted from August 1 to August 4.

According to the District Police Office, Dang, the operation was launched on the basis of specific intelligence, with police teams carrying out search operations through different area police offices and police posts.

The largest number of weapons was recovered from forests under the jurisdiction of the Kamirechaur Area Police Office in Banglachuli Rural Municipality. Police found seven guns in Himal Laligurans Community Forest, nine in Kharkholi Community Forest, one in Banglachuli Community Forest at Murkuti, five in Lahare Community Forest at Aruni, three in Mauwalekh Community Forest and five in Lawade Bhatkule Community Forest, bringing the total recovery from that area to 30 guns.

Under the Amiliya Area Police Office, seven guns were recovered from the Khaireni section of Birah Community Forest in Lamahi Municipality-9. Police Post Rampur recovered six guns from a national forest at Thulichaur in Banglachuli-6 and seven guns from New Kalika Community Forest in Banglachuli-8, taking the total recovery from those areas to 13 guns.

Police Post Hasipur recovered three guns from Nav Chetanshil Community Forest and two from New Kalika Community Forest in Banglachuli-8, bringing the total recovery there to five guns.

Police Inspector Ek Bahadur Nepali said all the recovered weapons were single-barrel muzzle-loading guns. Police said further investigation into the case is ongoing.
