KATHMANDU: The Nepal Meteorological Department has requested everyone not to panic, even though there is a possibility of rain in some parts of the country starting next Tuesday.
Indicating to the rumours currently spreading on social media, meteorologist Rajan Maharjan from the Meteorological Forecasting Division clarified that even though there may be some rain in some places of the country, there is no need to panic.
“There is a possibility of rain taking place next Tuesday. However, it is not certain where, how much, or until when it might rain,” he said. “Right now, news spreading on social media about rain for a week is especially scaring farmers. The weather system is variable, so everyone is requested not to follow rumors and not to panic,” Maharjan added.
According to meteorologist Maharjan, in the context of Nepal, forecasts are quite accurate for up to three days, but not very accurate for a week.
“In a few days, we will provide information about the upcoming rainfall next week. It is requested to rely only on the department’s official information regarding the weather and rain,” he said.
