SALYAN: Power supply has been suspended across Salyan district following damage to the 33 kV transmission line caused by continuous rain and strong winds.
The outage occurred after trees fell onto the Luham-Aringalefedi (Kharkhola) section, damaging transmission infrastructure.
Naresh Rawal, chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) distribution center in Salyan, stated that while some repairs were completed in the Kapurkot area, issues persist in several other locations. He noted that the ongoing rainfall has softened the soil, and persistent high-speed winds are complicating repair efforts. Rawal indicated that the restoration work could take the entire day on Saturday.
A technical team has been deployed since early morning to identify the extent of the damage and proceed with repairs. The disruption has affected various services and daily operations that rely on electricity throughout the district.
Meanwhile, the continuous rain since Thursday evening has increased the risk of landslides and other obstructions on various road sections in the district. Authorities warned that if the current weather conditions persist, there is a risk of further damage to roads, power infrastructure, and crops.
