KATHMANDU: After the devastating flash flood in Bhotekoshi caused some interruptions, the electricity supply service in Nuwakot and nearby areas, has now been restored.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reactivated the service using an alternative transmission system.
The authority has set up power supply through alternative lines originating from Sindhupalchok, covering areas like Kharanitar, Samundratar, Chouwgada, Likhu, Panchkanya, Bidur, and other flood-affected regions.
NEA spokesperson Rajan Dhakal mentioned that they are currently working on energizing the Chapali-Devighat 66 KV line and the 11 KV line from the Chapali substation, while also charging the Balaju-Trishuli 66 KV line with the 11 KV line.
Dhakal added that once the necessary technical work is completed, they are gearing up to put these lines into operation soon, with hopes of resuming electricity service by this evening.
In some parts of the Trishuli area, an alternative system has been set up to supply electricity via the Salyantar substation located in Dhading. The authority is making every effort to restore service in areas where the regular system is hindered due to flood damage.
To expedite the restoration of electricity service, the NEA has dispatched a skilled team equipped with the necessary tools and resources from Kathmandu and nearby areas to Nuwakot.
This team is prioritizing the inspection, repair, and management of alternative supply for the affected power structures.
The Authority is continuously monitoring the condition of the flood-damaged electricity infrastructure and is focused on operating supply from alternative systems.
