KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged the government and state agencies to take greater responsibility in rescue and relief efforts during disasters.
Speaking at a civil service recognition event in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prachanda said more lives could have been saved if flood rescue operations had been intensified earlier.
He called for better mobilization of state resources and urged authorities to motivate civil servants and security personnel rather than pressure them.
He also said good leadership, clear policies and effective implementation are essential to maintaining morale and delivering better results during disasters.
Prachanda said the country is currently facing growing confusion, uncertainty and instability across politics, the civil service and state institutions.
