KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a courtesy meeting with the acting ambassador of the United States to Nepal, Megan Bouldin, at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shah expressed gratitude for the solidarity and support extended by the US government to Nepal during the difficult situation caused by recent disasters.

He noted that both Nepali and foreign citizens have been affected by these events. Highlighting that Nepal is facing such disasters due to the impacts of climate change, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to further strengthen global cooperation and collective efforts to mitigate climate-induced disaster risks and address their impacts.

Additionally, discussing the potential of Nepal’s tourism sector and the opportunities for mutual benefits through its development, Prime Minister Shah stated that Nepal remains open to US investment.

In response, acting ambassador Bouldin expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property caused by the floods in Rasuwa and conveyed her condolences to the bereaved families and affected communities.

She reiterated the US government’s solidarity with the government and the people of Nepal during these challenging times.

Furthermore, she conveyed that the US government is prepared to provide necessary support and cooperation in relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts.
