KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah arrived in Pokhara this afternoon on a family visit. He will stay at Annapurna Eco village Resort in Astam, located in Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality–6 of Kaski district.

Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski, Chitrangat Baral, confirmed that Prime Minister Shah had arrived in Astam.

“Prime Minister Shah has come purely for a family visit. Security arrangements in the district have been strengthened in view of his visit,” Baral said. “He has no other formal programmes.”

Local resident Shobhakhar Adhikari said Astam residents were pleased by the Prime Minister’s visit. “Astam has problems with roads and drinking water. Since the Prime Minister himself has come here, we hope the problems of the villagers will be addressed,” he said.

Tourism entrepreneur Nandalal Adhikari said the Prime Minister’s visit could provide a significant boost to tourism promotion in the area.

Prime Minister Shah travelled from Kathmandu to Pokhara by road along with his family members. He is reportedly scheduled to travel to Mustang on Saturday.
