KATHMANDU: The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund currently holds a total balance of Rs 11.95 billion. According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, as of 5 p.m.
on Tuesday, the fund’s nine rupee accounts contained Rs 8.76 billion, while two dollar accounts held 21.11 million US dollars. The total balance was calculated by converting the foreign currency at the rate of Rs 150.88 per US dollar.
Following the floods in Rasuwa and Bhotekoshi, the fund has collected Rs 7.68 billion and 20.52 million US dollars. This figure is separate from the pre-disaster balance of Rs 2.08 billion. On Sept. 8, the fund received an additional Rs 306.2 million and 112,032 US dollars.
For relief and rescue operations, the government transferred Rs 1 billion from the fund to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority on Sept. 1. The Ministry of Finance has expressed its gratitude to individuals and organizations, both domestic and international, for their contributions to the disaster-affected families. The ministry has advised donors to use the official portal donate.gov.np for future contributions.
