Prithvi, BP and Pasang Lhamu highways disrupted

A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: Transportation services across several highways and road sections in the country have been disrupted due to floods, landslides, and ongoing road construction.

According to the Department of Roads, major road sections in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces are currently facing full or partial closures.

In Bagmati Province, the main highway in Rasuwa remains completely blocked due to flooding. Similarly, the Tokha-Chhahare road section and the Pasang Lhamu highway are also obstructed. In Dhading, landslides along the Prithvi Highway in the Benighat Rorang area have affected traffic flow.

While some sections are completely blocked, others are operating with single-lane traffic. At the Tuinkhola section of the Narayangadh-Mugling road in Chitwan, vehicles are being allowed to pass cautiously on a single-lane basis depending on the road conditions.

In Gandaki Province, only small vehicles are permitted on the Chame-Besisahar road section due to ongoing construction work. Meanwhile, in Karnali Province, a section of the Karnali Corridor in Humla is reported to be completely blocked following a landslide.

The Department of Roads stated that efforts are underway to clear the obstructions and restore traffic flow. Given the risk of further landslides and flooding caused by rainfall, the department has urged passengers and drivers to verify road conditions before traveling.

Authorities have advised travelers to exercise extreme caution, particularly when passing through high-risk areas.
