KATHMANDU: Veteran actor Rajesh Hamal has said the tragic incident in Sunsari has saddened not only the affected families but the entire nation, calling on Nepalis to preserve social harmony and mutual trust.
In a video message posted on social media on Friday evening, Hamal said Nepal is more than a land of mountains, hills, and the Tarai, or a country of temples, mosques, churches, monasteries, and stupas. Rather, he described it as a shared commitment to a common future for people of diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
He warned that weakening this shared trust would weaken both the people and the nation.
Hamal also posed a question to the public, asking whether Nepalis wanted to leave future generations an environment of trust or one of hatred.
“The answer is in our hands,” he said.
Expressing sorrow over the Sunsari incident, Hamal said the tragedy had affected not only those directly involved and their families but had deeply saddened all Nepalis and the nation as a whole.
He concluded by urging people across the country to uphold communal harmony, unity, and brotherhood.
