KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army has rescued 2,465 people since the devastating flood struck Rasuwa on Bhadra 10, with operations continuing across the affected areas.
As of 8 a.m. Saturday, the rescue figure includes people evacuated by Nepali Army helicopters, ground teams and from the Trishuli 3A tunnel.
According to the army, 163 foreign nationals were airlifted from Timure, Syafrubesi, Dhunche and Mailung. They included 113 Indians, 26 Chinese, 15 South Koreans, four Germans, two Americans, two Italians and one Omani national.
A total of 2,265 people, including 191 rescued from the tunnel, were evacuated by air and other means, while another 200 were rescued by ground teams.
More than 6,700 Nepali Army personnel have been deployed across the flood-affected areas. Emergency medical centres established by the army in Trishuli and Dhunche have provided treatment to 1,706 people so far.
The army said search and rescue operations, emergency medical care and relief distribution are being carried out in coordination with other security agencies.
Relief supplies transported by road from Kathmandu to Trishuli have been airlifted to affected areas. So far, 3,600 kg of supplies have been delivered to the Trishuli 3A tunnel area, 500 kg to Mailung and 220 kg to Betrabati.
A joint team of 146 personnel, including 84 from the Nepali Army along with personnel from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police, has been conducting rescue operations at the Trishuli 3A tunnel area since Bhadra 12.
