KATHMANDU: The bodies of 162 people have so far been recovered from different parts of the country following Wednesday’s devastating floods in Rasuwa.
Chitwan has recorded the highest number of recoveries, with 64 bodies found there. Likewise, 27 bodies were recovered in Dhading, 26 in Nawalparasi East, 20 in Gorkha, 12 in Nuwakot, nine in Tanahun, and two each in Rasuwa and Nawalparasi West.
Meanwhile, 28 police personnel deployed at the Area Police Office Timure and various police posts in Rasuwa remain unaccounted for following the floods.
According to the latest details, 3,398 police personnel have been mobilized across flood-affected areas for search and rescue operations.
At the Area Police Office Timure, 13 of the 23 personnel stationed there have been contacted, while 10 remain missing. At Police Post Rasuwagadhi, only one of the nine personnel has been accounted for. Similarly, five of eight personnel at Syafubesi, three of eight at the Temporary Police Post Mailung, nine of 10 at Betrawati, and five of six at Haku have been contacted.
Meanwhile, 41 people injured in the floods are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Of them, 20 are receiving treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, four at Trauma Center, three at Bir Hospital, nine at Trishuli Hospital, three at Norvic Hospital, and one each at Birendra Sainik Hospital and Green City Hospital.
Search operations for the missing police personnel and other people have been intensified, with security agencies continuing relief and rescue efforts in the flood-affected areas.
