KATHMANDU: Former vice chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Rabindra Mishra, has wished former crown prince Hridayendra Bir Bikram Shah a happy birthday while addressing him as “Sarkar,” a term traditionally used for royalty.
In a message posted on social media, Mishra said Hridayendra should prepare himself mentally, emotionally and intellectually for what he described as one of the most difficult responsibilities in the world.

Praising Hridayendra’s dignity and composure, Mishra wrote that “sooner or later the day will certainly come when Sarkar will have to ascend the throne,” and urged him to remain prepared for that moment.

Referring to Nepal’s current political situation and geopolitical sensitivities, Mishra argued that the restoration of the monarchy is inevitable. Recalling events of Bhadra 23 and 24, he claimed that the absence of the monarchy had created opportunities for foreign powers to interfere and could push the country toward conflict.

“I have repeatedly said that if there had been a monarchy in Nepal, neither the Deuba couple would have been assaulted nor would leaders have had to flee by helicopter on Bhadra 24,” Mishra wrote. “Failing to restore the monarchy in a sensitive country like Nepal is to put the nation’s future itself at risk.”
He also claimed that public awareness about the need for the monarchy has become widespread.

Emphasizing the slogans “Nation above ideology” and “A monarch for the nation,” Mishra warned that unless Nepal undertakes a structural review of the state, the country could face an existential crisis.
