Red Notice fugitive arrested in Qatar, brought to Nepal

JANAKPURDHAM: A man wanted in connection with human trafficking and rape cases has been arrested in Qatar and brought back to Nepal through Interpol coordination.

Mohammad Tahir Rain of Dhanauji Rural Municipality-5, Dhanusha, was arrested in Qatar and brought to Nepal on Monday.

According to police, a Red Notice had been issued against Rain following his disappearance after the alleged offenses. At the request of the Interpol Branch under the Crime Investigation Department of Nepal Police Headquarters, the Interpol General Secretariat issued the Red Notice against him on July 28, 2026.

Rain was arrested in Qatar through coordination between the Interpol Branch in Nepal and the National Central Bureau (NCB) Doha.

He was brought to Tribhuvan International Airport on a Qatar Airways flight on Monday morning. A police team from NCB Kathmandu took him into custody at the airport and handed him over to the District Police Office, Dhanusha, for further legal proceedings.

Police sources said Rain was allegedly involved in an incident in which a young woman was being taken toward Delhi, India, in a Scorpio vehicle before she was rescued following intervention by local residents.
