KATHMANDU: Ganesh Parajuli, a secretariat member and deputy leader of the parliamentary party for the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), stated that repair work is progressing rapidly on suspension bridges linking Nuwakot and Dhading, which were damaged by floods on Aug. 26.
Parajuli noted that floods originating from the northern border of Rasuwa caused significant damage to the Keureni-Gahate and Phosretar bridges. Additionally, he reported that the Pimaltar-Jagaram suspension bridge, which connects settlements within Nuwakot, also sustained damage during the disaster.
Reflecting on the impact of the infrastructure failure, Parajuli emphasized the challenges faced by residents living across the river.
He stated, ‘The disaster has shown how difficult the daily life of the people across the river becomes when bridges break. The restoration of these bridges will reconnect the two banks of the river along with the daily lives of the villages and settlements.’
Parajuli expressed his gratitude and respect toward the government, relevant agencies, technicians, and workers who are working to restore transport connectivity under difficult circumstances. He further mentioned that drone footage showing the ongoing repair work has provided him with a sense of optimism.
