KASKI: The fifth edition of the ‘Right to Protein Run’ is to be organised in Pokhara on September 19.
The objective of organizing the run is to connect health, tourism and agriculture while raising public awareness on protein through sports and to promote protein, balanced nutrition, physical fitness, and a healthy lifestyle.
According to the Nepal Feed Industries, the organizers of the run, there will be competition in eight categories.
Likewise, the total prize money in the competition is Rs 1.6 million, according to the programme coordinator Samej Rajbhandari. He informed that more than four thousand runners are expected to participate in various categories.
Rajbhandari said that while all four previous editions of the competition were held in Kathmandu, this time it is being organized here to promote tourism in Pokhara.
The route for the race is Basundhara Park–Hallan Chowk–Khahare–Sedi–Khapaudi–Pame and back at Basundhara Park.
The organizers said the competition will have eight categories: men’s and women’s half marathon (21 kilometers), men’s 10-kilometer open run, women’s five-kilometer open run, youth run for students up to grade 12, three-kilometer run, and men’s and women’s wheelchair race.
The top five athletes in each event will be given cash prizes.
