KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has launched an internal investigation into MP Khagendra Sunar and barred him from attending any formal public events until the probe is completed.
In a statement issued by party General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya, the party said it was investigating serious allegations reported by the media, including conduct affecting women’s dignity and respect, undue pressure, unwanted threats and suspicious financial transactions.
The RSP said it has a zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct against women, abuse of office and criminal offenses.
It directed its Central Disciplinary Commission to investigate the allegations and said the restriction was imposed to prevent interference with the process and maintain public office ethics.
The party said it expects an independent, fair and fact-based investigation by the relevant state agencies and will fully cooperate.
It said further action would be taken under the law and party statute based on the findings, stressing that “no one is above the law” and that no political protection would be provided to anyone who violates the law or official conduct.
