KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Amaresh Kumar Singh has said the government’s influence and credibility among the public are steadily declining.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives, Singh said growing disorder and instability in society were a cause for concern.
“Where is our society heading? We cannot look at only the two recent incidents in Bara and Saptari. Since our government came to power, there have been incidents in Kaptanganj, issues affecting religious and social harmony, as well as protests by meter-borrowers, microfinance victims and doctors. The fact that such incidents are occurring day after day shows that the government’s influence and public trust in it are declining,” he said.
Singh said anarchy, instability, killings, violence, rape and various forms of protest were causing suffering to the Nepali people.
“When there is disorder in society and people lose trust and confidence, crime increases. This issue requires serious discussion,” he added.
