KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Amaresh Kumar Singh has accused the government of interfering in public institutions and state agencies across the country, alleging that the dignity of the army, police and civil servants is being undermined.
In a Facebook post, Singh also criticized statements made by lawmakers, saying they were bringing disrepute to the federal parliament.
“Public institutions and government agencies across the country are being subjected to interference, while the army, police and civil servants are being humiliated,” Singh wrote. “The statements being made by lawmakers are such that the dignity of the respected Parliament itself is being undermined.”
Singh also said the arrest and crackdown on businesspeople had created fear among the business community.
He further questioned the government’s foreign policy, claiming that Nepal’s credibility was declining internationally.
“Foreign policy is even worse; no one seems to trust it,” he wrote.
Singh questioned whether the government’s current actions were actually aimed at leading the country toward prosperity and good governance or were instead pushing the state further backward.
“Is this really the roadmap to prosperity and good governance? Or is the state being pushed further backward? Isn’t it time to think about this?” he questioned.
