A A+ A-

CHITWAN: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to commence its first general convention in Bharatpur, Chitwan from today, with all necessary preparations.

Spokesperson Manish Jha announced that the management tasks, including venue organization, accommodation, transportation, security, and volunteer mobilization, have been completed.

The convention will be inaugurated by party President Ravi Lamichhane and Prime Minister and party senior leader Balendra Shah. The selection process for delegates from various committees across the country has also concluded, with 3,918 delegates expected to attend.

In conjunction with the convention, a central committee meeting has revised the party’s structure, proposing an increase in the central body from 121 to 151 members. This amendment aims to enhance women’s participation within the party, introducing provisions for female representation in key positions such as vice-presidents, co-spokespersons, and co-treasurers.

The new structure will ensure that 51 of the central members are nominated by the party president, while 99 members will be selected through open competition, adhering to inclusivity guidelines. The convention will focus on discussing statute amendments, policy proposals, and current political issues, with the aim of shaping the party’s future direction and strengthening its organizational framework.

The RSP has reported a membership of 500,000, with conventions held in 610 municipalities and representatives selected from 64 districts across six provinces. The leadership emphasizes the importance of expanding the party’s grassroots presence and enhancing public relations.
