TAPLEJUNG: The International Invitational fourth Taplejung Gold Cup was won by the defending champions Salhesh Youth Club.
In the final match on Friday, they defeated Fidim Sporting Club 1-0 to claim the title. Faguram Tharu of Salhesh scored the decisive goal in the second half that secured the championship.
Salhesh Youth Club had reached the final by defeating Georgian United from India 2-1. Meanwhile, Fidim Sporting Club reached the final by beating Jhapa-11 with 1-0.
The competition hosted by the Lakhe Jatra Operation Committee featured participation from eight groups including a team from India.
The winners, Salhesh, received Rs 7,02,083 in cash along with a trophy, medals, and certificates, while the runners-up Fidim got Rs 3,52,083 along with trophies, medals, and certificates.
Players with outstanding performances in the tournament were also given various awards.
