KATHMANDU: Inspector General of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki has said that the country’s overall security situation remains normal, although individuals with criminal intent occasionally attempt activities that could disturb peace and order.
In an interview with the state-owned National News Agency (RSS), Karki said police have been strategically mobilized to control criminal activities and prevent elements from taking advantage of instability. He stressed that maintaining harmony and good relations among citizens remains a key priority of Nepal Police.
Karki also expressed concern over the growing misuse of social media, including misinformation, disinformation, deepfakes and hate speech, saying police are closely monitoring such activities to prevent any impact on social cohesion and public security.
He added that Nepal Police is working in coordination with the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department and other concerned agencies to strengthen security arrangements across the country.
