KATHMANDU: A joint team of 82 security personnel has intensified clearance operations to open the entrance of a mud-filled tunnel at the Trishuli-3 ‘A’ Hydropower Project in Rasuwa, where individuals remain trapped inside.
The deployment—comprising 62 personnel from the Nepal Army and 20 from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police—began removing heavy mud and debris blocking the portal early Saturday morning after initial clearance attempts over the past two days were stalled.
Search and rescue efforts continue to face severe obstacles due to adverse weather conditions and dense sludge packed around the facility.
Simultaneously, a specialized Indian rescue team dispatched to assist with the disaster response has arrived in Trishuli.
Before determining its ground course of action, the team plans to execute an initial aerial survey of the Chilime and Langtang regions via helicopter to assess site conditions.
